Sky and Annie were great hosts and the programme was perfect. We did the feed and shower morning programme and it was humbling to interact with these beautiful animals. The sanctuary seems to genuinely focus on the care of the animals and it was good to learn about their new gentle life away from the crueller elements of tourism. The cost of the entrance goes toward the care of the elephants which is great. Pick up and drop off at the hotel was also really welll organised. Highly recommended. Thank you for a wonderful morning!

We booked this for our honey moon and wow what an experience!! The friendly staff and tour guides were amazing, the best of the very best. The information they had behind the island and its culture to the vibes they provided while transporting to the different islands is out of this world.

What a brilliant experience. Although I have done quad biking before back home this was a real treat as the course was longer and more varied all through the forest with twists and turns to keep you engaged. Some stunning views of the forest and the sea with a couple of stop offs to take in the views. There is no pressure for time although I would recommend the 1.5 hours ATV Tour with big Buddha visit as it will be over too quickly otherwise and won't have time to enjoy the experience. Staff were amazing, polite and courteous, please leave a tip if you can as they work hard in the heat. The young lad who led us on the ATV course was the best, my gf had never done quaffing before so was a little hapless, however he was patient and waited for her, swapped quads to see if she preferred his and even offered for her to ride with him or supervised, nothing was too much trouble he took photos and a video of us in action absolute legend. Highly recommend.

Top things to do in Phuket

James Bond Island tours | Day trips to Phang Nga Bay’s famous filming spot

James Bond Island tours are boat trips from Phuket that take you through the epic scenery of Phang Nga Bay. The nickname comes from the 1974 Bond film The Man with the Golden Gun, which put the spire-like island of Khao Phing Kan on the map. But these tours aren’t just about that one rock, as you’ll paddle through sea caves, visit floating villages like Koh Panyee, explore hidden lagoons and other islands, and stop at quiet beaches along the way.

Read more to find out what’s included, how to pick the right tour, what your day will look like, and tips to know before you go.

What to expect on your James Bond Island tour

Step into a James Bond scene

You’ll cruise right up to Khao Phing Kan and see Ko Ta Pu, the famous needle-shaped rock that made this island a pop-culture icon. While climbing is restricted, you’ll still get plenty of angles for that classic Bond shot.

Scenic boat ride through Phang Nga Bay

Boats depart from Phuket and travel through the bay’s limestone karsts, with plenty of chances to take photos or just enjoy the breeze. The views change constantly, so look out for oddly shaped rocks, secluded beaches, and jungle-topped islets along the way.

Go canoeing into hidden lagoons & sea caves

On most full-day tours, you’ll hop into a canoe (with a guide paddling) to explore sea caves and lagoons. Some caves are low and narrow, so you may need to duck, but they open into quiet "hongs" surrounded by cliffs. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife like crabs, bats, or birds nesting on the cliffs.

Visit the floating village of Koh Panyee

You’ll step into a unique village built entirely on stilts over the water. Walk along the wooden paths, browse souvenirs, and learn about the lives of local Muslim fishing families. Most tours stop here for a buffet lunch, usually seafood, rice, vegetables, and fruit, served in a restaurant with bay views.

Swim or snorkel in calm waters

Not all tours include snorkeling, but some make stops at quiet beaches or shallow areas where you can take a dip. While coral isn’t the main draw here, the clear waters and peaceful setting make it great for a swim or basic snorkeling.

Catch a sunset, and maybe even bioluminescence

If you choose an afternoon or full-day tour that stays out into the evening, you may catch the sunset over the cliff. A few tours even stay long enough to witness glowing plankton in the water, a natural light show that happens after dark in certain areas.

Things to know before booking your James Bond Island tour

💰 Budget vs. Luxury

  • Speedboat tours are great if you want to see it all in one day without breaking the bank. They zip you to James Bond Island fast and include stops at caves, floating villages, and swimming spots. Meals are buffet-style with soft drinks and coffee/tea, and some tours go into the evening with a seafood dinner and bioluminescent canoeing.
  • Luxury catamaran tours focus on comfort and atmosphere. Expect gourmet meals, sunset views, elegant interiors, and fun extras like party decks, canapés, and even Magnum ice cream.
  • Big boat tours strike a balance between value and comfort. You’ll cruise on a spacious two-deck boat or twin-engine cruiser with shaded seating, buffet meals, and a smooth, stable ride.

⏰ Duration

All James Bond Island tours are full-day experiences, ranging from 7.5 to 11 hours. Here’s how they differ:

  • Standard full-day (7–10 hrs): Great for covering the island highlights, canoeing, and relaxing on deck or at the beach.
  • Extended full-day with night experiences (10–11 hrs): Perfect for travelers looking for bioluminescent canoeing, lantern floating, and a magical cave tour after dark.

🚤 Boat types

  • Speedboat: Best for covering more in less time. Modern vessels with padded seats, often used for adventure-packed itineraries with multiple islands, caves, and swimming stops.
  • Luxury catamaran: Offers a slow, smooth cruise with wide open decks, premium meals, stylish seating, and party-ready features like DJs and bars.
  • Big boat: Comfortable twin-deck boats with shaded seating, buffet meals, and a relaxed pace. Ideal for travelers who want smooth cruising, scenic views, and a full-day experience without the rush.

🧭 Which tour fits your travel style?

  • Are you on a tight schedule or love fast-paced trips? Choose a speedboat tour with a packed itinerary that includes caves, canoeing, and beach time.
  • Looking for a romantic evening? Go for the sunset catamaran cruise with a gourmet dinner and soft lighting.
  • Traveling with friends? The sunset party cruise with DJ, paddleboards, and water hammocks is your vibe.
  • Nature lover or night owl? Opt for the bioluminescent canoeing tours with cave paddling and floating lantern rituals.

🎫 National Park fee

All listed tours include the Phang Nga Bay National Park fee (Phang Nga Bay National Park fee) in the package, so you don’t have to worry about paying separately.

🍽 What’s included?

All tours include round-trip Phuket transfers (some with airport pickup), an English-speaking guide, a national park fee, and travel insurance. Meals range from buffet lunches and seafood dinners to canapés and ice cream.

Activities vary by tour: think canoeing, snorkeling, swimming, lantern floating, and party extras like paddleboards and water hammocks. All safety gear is provided.
